Your entire Google search history is available for download

Google stores your entire internet search history and now makes it available for you to download.

Do you remember what you searched for two years ago or five years ago? Google remembers.

What about when you searched for a hangover cure on a Sunday morning exactly three years and two days ago after that big Saturday night out? Google remembers.

Or that time you got that strange rash and you searched for symptoms, possible cause and a cure?  Google remembers.

Google now lets you download your entire search history so you can see just how well Google’s algorithms know you (maybe better than you know yourself).

You can find out how by checking out this unofficial Google blog:

http://googlesystem.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/export-google-search-history.html

Of course, if this comprehensive search history is being stored and is available to you, it is also available to others, either legitimately (court order or government warrant) or illegitimately (hackers or a partner who knows your password).

Don’t want Google to store your search history?

Well, you can turn it off in Google’s settings (while you are signed in) or always make sure you are signed out of Google when searching (if you remember).  Of course, Google will still store your search history against your unique IP address unless you are using a VPN to protect your privacy (learn how to get a VPN at my other post by clicking here).

Other way to protect your search history is to use a search engine that respects your privacy and doesn’t record your search history. The most popular privacy search engine is DuckDuckGo.  Check it out below:

https://duckduckgo.com/

DuckDuckGo says that it does not “collect any personal information and therefore, have none to share”.
